MLM Sponsor- The Thin Line Between Dependence and Confidence

I do believe the job of being a MLM sponsor is a hard one. They walk the fine line between being there to help their downline and doing too much until they make them dependent.

Even with all of the exceptional training available on the Internet today some people still do not really comprehend network marketing. What they do know is they all want to earn more money and in many cases do as little as work as needed to achieve that.

The Internet has leveled the playing field when it comes to building a network marketing business. You don't have to be particularly good at prospecting or presenting if you represent the right network marketing program.

All the prospecting can be done for you right on the Internet. In many cases you can participate in co-op advertising programs where the leads for your business are even produced for you.

Some systems are so sophisticated they will even follow-up for you by importing leads directly into an autoresponder. In many cases they will directly enroll them into your MLM business and place them right in your downline.

For people who have money they can build an Network Marketing business and do it almost completely hands-off. However the problem comes in when you have to teach your downline what you are doing.

If you engage in any form of Email Marketing you probably read the same things that I do about it all:

• Email Marketing is dead.
• Safelist Marketing is a waste of time.
• Email Ad Blasters are a scam.

And yet I know of several Internet Marketers, MLMers and Network Marketers that continue to make their livings almost completely from the contacts and sales that they generate from these specific sources.

So who is right?!

Actually, both are!

In spite of the fact that a core group of marketers build their businesses this way, this fact remains:

The vast majority of people using any form of Email based marketing never even get their emails opened!

The reason is as simple as it is maddening...

Their Subject Line, or Headline isn't doing it's job!

Ok, so the question now is not difficult to identify. What is the role of the Subject Line?

Fortunately it is just as easily answered.

The only thing the Headline needs to do is get the recipient to open that email! If the recipient opens the email, then the Subject Line or Headline has completed it's task!

Writing an effective Subject Line requires that you focus your efforts on just this one aspect. If the Headline does not motivate the recipient then it has failed...

To accomplish this, you should rarely if ever use the prewritten Subject Lines provided by the programs or products that you are promoting. These end up being so overused that most of your readers will just pass them over.

Your Subject Line should jump out at the reader and tell them not just what your subject matter is about, but it should let the reader know that if they DON't read your email, they will miss out on something they cannot get anywhere else!

It is no secret in the IM community when a major launch occurs. Most of us are so inundated with emails about the newest/best/greatest service or software title since sliced bread that we are relieved when it is over. But ask yourself: Which of these emails do you end up opening?

Invariably it will be the one that approaches the subject from a different angle. You will get at least a dozen with IDENTICAL Subject Lines. You may open one of these, but not likely more than that...

You will need to study the product or service that you are promoting and look for a feature that is both important and overlooked in the provided marketing materials. This is usually easier than it sounds. It is best if this is something that solves a problem that you are aware of, or even have struggled with yourself.

Explosive headlines work well too. Exploit a perceived controversy, or create one. A very successful technique is to state that the product or service being promoted "Is Guaranteed Legal" or other copy designed to make it sound more controversial than anything else available.

Get the recipient to feel that they will be missing something if they don't read your email and it will get opened.

The next step is getting the prospect to click one of the links inside. But that is the job of your sales copy.

A Basic 2x2 Matrix

I recently came back to marketing Forced Matrix Programs after a long hiatus due in large part to what I felt were outlandish claims as to what these programs are capable of.  They were always worthwhile, it is just important for the people that you sponsor to have realistic expectations about what to expect from them.

They should not expect to retire in 90 days...

They should not expect to have enough spillover to populate a small town...

They should not expect to be cycling hourly by tomorrow noon...

You know what I'm talking about!  Unrealistic expectations like these will absolutely kill the joy your downline could be feeling when they experience a realistic level of success.

But more important even than managing expectations, is to have a marketing strategy that will allow you to reach some realistic goals within whatever program you choose.  Personally I like 2x2 forced matrix programs with a low initial cost that are either feeders for other higher priced programs, or that I can use that way.  I also prefer a program that will allow you to purchase multiple positions. (Which I do NOT do initially)

So what do I mean by having a Marketing Strategy?

Well, most of these programs are being promoted widely on Traffic Exchanges, Safelists, FFA & Email Blasters and just about any other way you can imagine.  I am not saying you should not use these methods, but I am saying that it is vital that you have some way to stand out from the crowd.  And the way you market needs to prepare your prospects to be the kind of downline you want them to be. This is easier than it sounds...

How many times have you been in a forced matrix program that told you that all you had to do was to recruit two people and you were guaranteed a fabulous income.  You not only got your two, but even a few more.  A check or two even came to encourage you, but then it just faded out to nothing...

This happens because your prospects were not told up front what they needed to do, and how to go about doing it. Expectations were not clearly defined. It is easy to tell people that they will need to do almost nothing in order to create a residual online income, but it is also easy to predict what kind of downline they will be.

On the other hand, what if your prospects were told up front that they would need to perform specific yet simple tasks in order to succeed?  You may pick up slightly fewer people, but they would be people that already knew what their part in the program would be.

Marketing experts frequently speak about the USP, or Unique Sales Proposition.  What will you do to stand out from the crowd of people promoting the same program?

Don't know what I mean?  Go to any Traffic Exchange that you happen to belong to and start surfing.  You will see many of the same Forced Matrix Programs several times in the first hundred pages that you surf.  This is because one of the most frequently recommended means of promoting just about any program are Traffic Exchanges.  And yes, they do work, but not the way most people use them. (More on this another time)

Right now I am involved in a 2x2 Forced Matrix program that I had seen at least 50 times without having the slightest desire to get involved.  I have seen it promoted another 500 times since, and would never have gotten involved if it were not for the USP of the (very well known) Internet Marketer that I enrolled under.

The part of my sponsors USP that originally got my attention was her own reputation, which is huge and richly deserved. Most of us (me included) cannot rely on this and frankly we don't need to.  The next part was that in the advertizement that I read, she very briefly and succinctly answered all of the questions that she knew would be important if I wanted to get involved in this Forced Matrix Program:

1.  One time fee of $7 to get involved.

2. Automatic re-enrollment in a new 2x2 matrix every time cycled.

3. First cycle pays you into another more lucrative Forced Matrix Program.
