Contemplating About Purchasing MLM Genealogy Lists? Study This First
Many folks in the Network Marketing place their hopes on MLM genealogy lists all too often, only to find that they have completely wasted their money!
They get themselves all geared up to start calling all those 5,000 or whatever prospects and get ready to start living the dream, but then they begin to realise…. No one is taking the bait, no one wants to join their business or buy their products, in fact these so called prospects are pretty angry that you even have their information. It’s not working!
In case you’re wondering let’s look at what a genealogy list actually is
Well they are basically lists of people who have been previously involved with an MLM company or have in some way expressed an ‘interest’ in the business model. Sometimes when an MLM company goes out of business they will auction off their list of distributors (complete with full contact details). Needless to say the personal details of thousands of distributors could potentially end up in the hands of almost anyone.
The people who buy these lists may sell on the lists or part of them to other ‘information harvesting’ companies, or they may choose to sell them on to other network marketers. No doubt the buyers will market to the list first themselves before selling on. Just Google the term ‘MLM genealogy lists’ and you will find plenty of people ready to sell you their lists!
One of the big problems with such lists is the legal implications; it totally goes against the data protection and non disclosure documents that every distributor signs on enrolment. No one signed on the dotted line to say, ‘yeah sure, you can sell my information to some random person if the company goes under’. Are you looking to build an honest, legitimate business with integrity? If so you should probably steer well clear of using such lists.
Their details will arrive on your desk after travelling through a whole chain of information networks (mostly unethical) and when you call these people they don’t know who you are, its a certainty that they would have never directly requested information from YOU. You might also want to add, that effectively you are contacting them illegally due to the way in which you obtained their information. Needless to say this is not what you would call a highly targeted, qualified prospect!
The reasons already discussed should be enough to make anyone realise that genealogy lists are not the way to go, but think for a moment of the telephone prospecting you would have to do. You are looking at 8 hours a day at least of what will essentially be ‘cold’ calling. It’s the only way you’d be able to prospect these people, unless you invest in an expensive direct mail campaign. Are you a great closer on the telephone? You need to be very good at it to make it a successful venture, also bear in mind these leads are not really qualified and won’t be very receptive to your offer in all likelihood.
After all there isn’t really any need to waste time with these genealogy lists, there are many different ways to generate leads for your business, especially online. I recently did a training video about how to generate mlm leads for free. You are far better off bringing in your own leads that have actually requested information from you.
